The Trump Administration is reportedly considering a plan that would send hundreds of captured Islamic State fighters to Iraqi prisons and others to the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.
The 600 fighters are currently being detained in a rebel-controlled area of Syria by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a majority Kurdish militia, who no longer have the means to hold them or prosecute them, NBC News reported Thursday.
Many of those being detained are foreign born.
The highest-value fighters would be transferred to Guantanamo, including two ISIS fighters – Alexandar Amon Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh – who were part of a group of four jihadis called “The Beatles” because they had British accents.
They took part in murdering American and Western hostages.
The fighters who would be sent to Iraq would be detained in Iraqi prisons and observed by Iraqi guards, while others could be transferred to Cuba.
A spokesman for the National Security Council said, “Our partners in Syria are detaining terrorists who were captured or surrendered, including many foreign terrorist fighters. All options will be considered. The president and his national security team will pursue the option that best protects the national security interests of the United States.”
The U.S. has made efforts to send the prisoners to their country of origin, or to other countries, but has had little success in doing so.
The U.S. has notified nearly four dozen countries that their citizens are being held by the SDF, who could no longer accommodate the prisoners, and the countries needed to plan prisoner transfers back to their own countries.
With some convincing, some of the countries did accept their prisoners, including Macedonia and Lebanon.
Both Tunisia and Kazakhstan agreed to take some of the prisoners. Tunisia agreed to take as many as 150 of them but only with compensation, two senior U.S. defense officials confirmed to NBC.
Other countries refuse to budge on taking the prisoners, despite the numerous U.S requests, the Washington Examiner reported.
One U.S. official said that nearly 2,000 women and children are held in refugee camps, but their countries don’t want them, as they may have radical ideologies or mental health issues.
Congressional Democrats and human rights groups argue that instead of being sent to Guantanamo where they will be imprisoned indefinitely without charges, the prisoners should be tried and convicted in a federal court.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen has reservations on the idea, fearing that sending the prisoners to Guantanamo would martyr them.
She is advocating for the ISIS murderers responsible for journalist James Foley’s death to be tried in federal court as his family has requested.
“We encourage all of our partners to take responsibility for their citizens, including prosecuting them for any crimes they’ve committed, and ensuring they cannot return to the battlefield. We will continue to pursue all diplomatic avenues. We have no further specifics to provide at this time,” a State Department spokesperson said.
Cdr. Sarah Higgins, a Defense Department spokesperson who focuses on detainee policy, said: “There is no one identified to transfer to Guantanamo at this time.”
The U.S. is considering transferring the prisoners to be detained in Iraqi prisons.
An official said it would “alleviate some of the security concern” that the prisoners could escape. It would also eliminate requiring countries from having to enter Syria to gather them.
There is no agreement yet with Iraq and many legal questions remain to be answered, including who has the right to try prisoners picked up in Syria.
Human rights advocates do not support sending the prisoners to Iraq since they are known for the mistreatment of prisoners and lack of due process.
Nadim Houry of Human Rights Watch said: “We would be very worried. Torture is rampant in Iraqi detention facilities.”
Spokespeople for the National Security Council and the State Department would not comment about specific options for foreign prisoners or the status of individual cases.
BREAKING: FBI Arrests Five Jihadists Connected to New Mexico Compound Days After Multiple Charges Were Dropped
Law enforcement bows to Sharia law, allows Muslim women to take mug shot donning hijabs
On Friday, the FBI arrested all five Muslim jihadists connected to the New Mexico compound, reported FOX News.
The FBI on Friday announced that it has arrested all five “extremist Muslim” New Mexico compound suspects, just days after multiple charges were dropped against those involved. The suspects were charged with violating federal firearms and conspiracy laws.
“The defendants, Jany Leveille, 35, a Haitian national illegally present in the United States, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, 40, Hujrah Wahhaj, 37, Subhanah Wahhaj, 35, and Lucas Morton, 40, are charged in a criminal complaint that was filed earlier today in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico,” the bureau said in a statement.
“The criminal complaint charges Jany Leveille with being an alien unlawfully in possession of firearms and ammunition in the District of New Mexico from Nov. 2017 through Aug. 2018,” the bureau said. “The criminal complaint charges the other four defendants with aiding and abetting Leveille in committing the offense, and with conspiring with Leveille to commit the offense.”
Muslim Siraj Ibn Wahhaj was arrested earlier this month at a terrorist compound in New Mexico.
Wahhaj was training children to commit mass shootings at US schools.
New Mexico Judge Sarah Backus released the five Islamist defendants, Siraj Wahhaj, Hujrah Wahhaj, Subhannah Wahhaj, Jany Leveille, and Lucas Morten, on a $20,000 “signature bond.”
Siraj ibn Wahhaj is the son of a Brooklyn imam who was named as a possible co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
New Mexico police entered a dangerous Islamist terrorist camp in New Mexico this month after they grew tired of FBI stalling.
The FBI refused to act. Instead the FBI told a neighbor to wear a hidden camera and risk his life by approaching an armed Islamist extremist compound.
On Wednesday, a judge dismissed 11 counts of child abuse charges against 3 out of the 5 Islamic defendants because the state violated 10 day rule for preliminary hearing.
Not only were the defendants training the young children to shoot up schools, the children were living in dire conditions.
The 11 children found on the compound were malnourished and dirty.
One of the defendants, Wahhaj, was accused of kidnapping his 3-year-old son from Georgia; the little boy’s remains were later found on the compound.
This is a breaking story…please check back for updates.
On Thursday, California Democratic Party chair Eric Bauman made the stupid play (as Kira wrote about here) of calling for a boycott of In-N-Out Burger, the iconic, wildly-popular, native Californian burger chain, because of a $25,000 donation to the California Republican Party.
As a Californian whose first stop was In-N-Out during every visit home while she lived in exile in other states, all I can say is – good luck with that! What’s sort of ironic is that In-N-Out treats their workers so well, voluntarily paying over minimum wage to attract the best and most service-oriented workers and offering incredible benefits to their employees, that it’s one of the most sought-after fast food restaurants to work for. Isn’t that the type of company the Democrats should like? Or are they only fans of companies they extort and exert control over?
Anyway, California Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox made his feelings on the issue known quickly, and used it as an opportunity to challenge Dem candidate Gavin Newsom.
Gavin, believing he’s got this election all wrapped up, has only agreed to one debate this fall – hosted by CNN – out of the five debates Cox proposed. So Cox took the opportunity to propose a different kind of debate and highlight Newsom’s San Francisco elitism at the same time: a Double Double versus Caviar joust.
Among Californians, those outside of San Francisco generally roll their eyes at the snooty residents of the poop-filled town, while San Franciscans believe they have sole claim on any type of culture to be found in the state. And, Gavin doesn’t help things with photos like this (with his ex-wife Kimberly Guilfoyle):
Gavin and his new wife, Jennifer, love to dispense advice to Californians on every aspect of their lives and, of course, Gavin works to turn that advice into legal mandates. Pointing out Gavin’s know-it-all elitism is a winning message for Cox.
And having the In-N-Out truck at his rallies wouldn’t hurt either.
The Internet is collectively enjoying this scene from Aretha Franklin’s funeral today, for understandable reasons:
Bill has escaped serious consequences for his behavior with women but he’ll never escape being an online joke every time he looks approvingly in the direction of a pretty young thing. Don’t let goofing on the Clenis distract you, though, from the fact that he shared the stage today with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Louis Farrakhan, all three of whom have had … pointed things to say about Jews over the years, shall we say, but one of whom has made basically a career of it. This wasn’t a state event and a person’s entitled to invite whomever they like to their funeral but they’re not entitled to have every person they invite attend. Why’d Bill attend knowing that he’d be asked to share a stage with a cretin like Farrakhan?
It’s not like nothing was happening elsewhere in the political world today that he could have attended instead as an excuse to get out of going.
Unlike Bill and Hillary, the Obamas had the good sense to stay away and send their regards to Franklin’s family via a letter. Then again, Obama’s not above posing for the cameras with Farrakhan either. That’s really the whole point: Clinton shared a stage with Farrakhan because he had no reason to think doing so would be viewed dimly by the public, particularly the Democratic half of it. It’s exceptionally weird at a moment when lefties regularly dunk on TrumpWorld and its hangers-on for associations with white nationalists, Euro-fascists, conspiracy cranks, and assorted other political detritus that more isn’t done to keep their distance from one of the country’s foremost anti-semites. But it is what it is, with excuses made time and time again by the biggest Democratic names for gladhanding him. It’s this simple, I think: Farrakhan has a large following in black America, and given what blacks in America have been through, they get a full pass on whichever racist cranks on their own side they choose to admire.
Imagine how sleazy you need to be, though, for Bill Clinton to be shamed by your proximity to him. Here’s Jake Tapper, one of the few reporters willing to call the left on this, doing battle over it with a guy who nearly became chairman of the DNC.
NEVER FORGET: Dirty Cop Mueller Gave Tony Podesta Immunity to Testify Against Manafort After Committing Same Exact Crime
Tony Podesta worked with Paul Manafort for years in foreign lobbying campaigns.
Mueller gave Tony Podesta immunity to testify against Paul Manafort.
Dirty cop Mueller needed Manafort to give immunity to Podesta.
Tucker Carlson had this to say about this recent development, “In other words, for a near identical crime, Bill and Hillary’s friend could escape and emerge completely unscathed while Paul Manafort may rot in jail. Only one of them made the mistake of chairing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.”
There is NOTHING about this special counsel that is honorable.
MUELLER GAVE IMMUNITY TO THE TONY PODESTA IN MANAFORT’S DC CASE
Tucker Carlson: Today a list of witnesses granted immunity in Manafort’s trial in Virginia for tax and fraud violations was released. Podesta was not on that list because he has nothing to do with that case. According to our sources Tony Podesta has been offered immunity to testify in Paul Manafort’s trial in DC. That’s a trial on criminal fare violations for the lobbying both of them did for the government of Ukraine.
