House Dems grumble to CNN: We’re frustrated that the Squad keeps making trouble for us

Damn, this thread is enjoyable.

If it’s true that picking a fight with the Squad — at least on “go back to where you came from” grounds — is a political loser for Trump, some members of the Democratic caucus are slow to see it. The grievances here about Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff allegedly organizing primary challenges to some Dem incumbents are real and longstanding too. That was a key complaint in the Dem pile-on of Saikat Chakrabarti this past weekend, which feels like ancient history now because it happened 48 hours before Trump started tweet-ranting “love it or leave it” stuff at Ilhan Omar. But it’s fuel on the fire that’s burning through comity on Pelosi’s side of the aisle.

Trump thinks he’s winning this fight and wasn’t shy about saying so to reporters this afternoon. Note the shot here about Omar possibly having married her brother:

There’s no question that something strange is going on in her marital history. Whether one of the men she was married to is actually her brother remains uncertain, as far as I know, but Trump’s not pulling that out of nowhere.

As for his point about the Dems going left on Israel, it makes me laugh that immediately after smoothing over the big Democratic brawl over AOC’s chief of staff by coming together to rebuke POTUS, Dems are about to have a new fight over the BDS movement thanks to Omar and the Squad. Here she is today making the case that BDS is sort of like the Boston Tea Party in that they’re both nonviolent means of pressuring an occupying power to leave. Which I guess makes the colonial continental army sort of like … Hamas? I don’t know. Cheers to House Democrats as they try to figure that one out.

Of Course They Did: CBS, NBC Bury SDNY Ending Trump Probe on Hush Money Payments

Of Course They Did: CBS, NBC Bury SDNY Ending Trump Probe on Hush Money Payments

It was another bad day on Wednesday for The Resistance in their attempts to remove President Trump from office in handcuffs as, thanks to a court order, it was revealed that the Southern District of New York had ended their probe concerning the Trump Organization and alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal.

And on cue, the CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News saw no reason to acknowledge this with this being the second Trump legal victory ignored in a week as, when Maryland and Washington D.C. had their lawsuit alleging the President violated the Constitution’s emoluments clause thrown out, CBS similarly was silent.

So for all the commotion about how this or that lawsuit or probe will lead to the President’s ouster or more of his allies being imprisoned, the liberal media sure don’t seem as keen on highlighting when things don’t go their way.

To his credit, ABC’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir offered a measly, 16-second news brief on the investigation coming to an end:

One more headline tonight involving president [sic]. Federal prosecutors in New York today ending their investigation into the hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougall. Both women claiming they were paid to stay silent about their affairs with the President more than a decade ago. He says the affairs never happened and no new charges are expected.

Meanwhile, the Fox News Channel’s flagship evening newscast Special Report had a longer, more comprehensive brief to the tune of 47 seconds from host Bret Baier (click “expand”):

President Trump’s legal team is declaring victory tonight as a federal judge said today in a court order the investigation of hush money payments arranged by Michael Cohen, which Cohen claims where at the President’s direction, has come to an end. The investigation involves payments the President’s former lawyer helped orchestrate to two women, porn actress Stormy Daniels and playboy centerfold Karen McDougal after they claimed they had affairs with then-businessman Donald Trump. The President has denied any sexual relationship with the women. The end of that investigation likely means no additional charges will be filed against anyone, including the President. Cohen is currently serving a three year prison term in upstate New York for campaign finance violations as well as other offenses, including bank and tax fraud.

Here’s a little more from Politico (click “expand”):

The judge, an appointee of President Bill Clinton, made the disclosure in a ruling on a related matter dealing with the release of sealed information contained in already-public search warrants tied to the Cohen case. Pauley rejected the government’s request to keep some of the search warrant materials in the Cohen case sealed and instead ordered it publicly released by 11 a.m. Thursday.

(….)

Last week, CNN reported that officials at the Trump Organization haven’t had any contact with SDNY officials for more than five months, and a source tied to the president’s namesake company isn’t disputing that story.

A spokesman for the SDNY U.S. attorney’s office declined comment about the status of its campaign finance probe. Alan Futerfas, an attorney for the Trump Organization, said he was reviewing the judge’s order and declined further comment.

Jay Sekulow, a personal attorney for the president, welcomed the news. “We are pleased that the investigation surrounding these ridiculous campaign finance allegations is now closed,” he said in a text message. “We have maintained from the outset that the President never engaged in any campaign finance violation…Another case is closed.”

With all this mind, it was also a bad day for CNN darling Michael Avenatti, but these days, most days are bad days for Avenatti considering the flurry of charges he’s facing and how his cable news hits have dried up.

Hours before the news broke and at the 6:26 a.m. Eastern mark, MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski hyped that this hush money case was “waiting for him when he leaves office” as an example of how “this ends badly, right” for the President. Well, Mika, it turns out that you can forget about that.

Sad trombone!

“Send Her Back!” Trump Supporters Jeer Somalia-Born Rep. Ilhan Omar at Pres. Trump N.C. Campaign Rally (Video)

Supporters of President Trump chanted, “Send her back!” as Trump read a litany of soft on Islamist terror, anti-American comments by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) at a campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina Wednesday night.

A protester interrupted Trump as he first mentioned Omar, which fired up the crowd as he was removed by security.

A Prominent Hollywood Figure Makes an Astonishing Claim About Trump. Does This Whole Politics Thing Have to Be So Ridiculous?

A Prominent Hollywood Figure Makes an Astonishing Claim About Trump. Does This Whole Politics Thing Have to Be So Ridiculous?

On Monday, Rob Reiner made a stunning proclamation.

And it is indeed stunning.

It was an absolutely jawdropping announcement.

And yet, it’s one being tossed about all over. And it has been, for a few years:

What an incredible claim: That a man voted to lead the United States is so cripplingly idiotic and woefully petty that he sits around categorizing all human beings according to the color of their skin.

It’s so extreme that, on its face, it would seem impossible.

But here’s something much more: Donald Trump has been famous for decades. Not years. But tens of years. Recognized everywhere he went. Talked about. Written about. Interviewed. Featured.

And we’re to believe that, despite being all the things prominent Democrats have asserted — a deranged, angry, hateful, white supremacist, racist maniac — it simply slipped everyone’s mind until 2016.

Somehow, magically, that’s the case.

One would think that, if Trump were what he’s been accused of being, magazines wouldn’t have fawned over him, rap stars wouldn’t have praised him on their records, television wouldn’t have gawked and gushed, women wouldn’t have been willing to be with him, celebrities would’ve refused to party with him, and businesses would’ve refused to work with him.

One might reasonably deduce that, were he the evil leader we’ve been told he is, he would’ve never been able to become an American leader in the first place.

And he would’ve never been in the position to mentor black mogul and cultural maestro Russell Simmons — which he did.

Why must politics be so transparently daft? The guy’s New York’s most celebrated eccentric, then an “R” — formerly a “D,” by the way — is added to his name and so many across the aisle appear to lose any kind of ability to keep a level head. Suddenly, his middle name is Adolf.

And sadly, many, many young people don’t realize the ruse. They’ve never known of Trump as anything but der Fürher. Or they’ve been told he was a dopey reality star who became president.

Not a man who took a small fortune and turned it into a staggering worldwide empire. Not a man who led one of the most successful businesses in American history. Just Snooki but with cotton-candy hair.

Either way, now he’s the leader of the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Reich.

And it’s just so utterly absurd.

C’mon, folks.
